CHI Mercy Hospital announced the recipients of the the CHI Foundation’s scholarships and the CHI Auxiliary scholarships for the 2025-2026 school year.
The CHI Foundation awarded three scholarships including two in the Jamestown area.

● Ada Gilbertson, Valley City: recipient of the General Medicine Scholarship, Gilbertson will attend Baylor University to study neuroscience, with the goal of becoming a pediatric neurologist.
● Mara Bjornson, Valley City: A student at the University of Jamestown, Bjornson received the LaVonne Reidman Nursing Scholarship and is pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse.
These scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, are funded through initiatives hosted by hospital staff and a donation in memory of LaVonne Reidman, a dedicated nurse who graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing and served at the hospital for 21 years.
The CHI Auxiliary awarded five outstanding students $500 each to support their academic pursuits in health care-related fields. These scholarships are made possible through the Auxiliary’s dedicated fundraising efforts, including bake sales and gift shop sales.
Scholarship recipients from the Jamestown region include:
● Aiden Jacobson, Valley City, who attends Northwestern University for chiropractic
● Nick Kruta, Valley City, a nursing student at the University of Jamestown.

● Shannon Bryn, Dazey, a student at the University of Mary who graduated in May with a double major in exercise science and music and is pursuing a master’s degree in athletic training.
