Students planning to work in the field of journalism can apply for a variety of scholarships hosted by The Valley Press Club.
The Valley Press Club is awarding $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors in Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut who are interested in a career in journalism or related fields.
Over the course of six decades, the club, comprising active and retired journalists and public relations professionals, has presented more than $140,000 in scholarships to eligible students. See the the Valley Press Club past recipients here.
Below is a list of all scholarships offered through The Valley Press Club.
The Valley Press Club will review the student’s career goals, writing ability, scholastic aptitude and achievement measured by high school transcript, class rank, academic awards, SAT scores and extracurricular activities.
Students have until April 4 to apply. Scholarship applications can be found here.
The application should be typed or completed on a computer, the Valley Press Club requests. An electronic version, which can be filed by email, is available here. The pages of the application should be numbered and each page should contain the applicant’s name. Two-sided copies will not be accepted.
