BEDFORD—On Tuesday morning, Lawrence County Veterans Affairs Officer Brad Bough informed the Commissioners about valuable scholarship opportunities available to the children of disabled veterans, Purple Heart recipients, and prisoners of war. He also emphasized the importance of timely applications for high school juniors interested in attending military academies.
“These scholarships will allow a student to attend 124 hours at a state-supported college for free,” Bough stated, highlighting the significant financial assistance available.
He also stressed the need for high school juniors to apply early if they aspire to attend one of the five prestigious U.S. service academies:
“They don’t want to wait,” Bough cautioned. “My office can help them apply.”
The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) administers three state aid programs for tuition and fee exemption through ScholarTrack. Students must meet resident tuition rate eligibility.
Bough and his staff are committed to assisting any Lawrence County high school student in navigating the application process. “I will help in any way I can,” Bough says. “These scholarships make a difference in a child attending college or not having that opportunity.”
