Connellsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21 annually presents at least two scholarships to graduating seniors from the greater Connellsville area. Scholarship recipients for 2025 were Christopher Cook of Bullskin Township, the son of Darlene and Dennis Cook; Leah Henry of Bullskin Township, the daughter of Lori and Edward Henry; and Madelynn Johnson of Springfield Township, the daughter of Meredith and Randy Johnson. From left are VFW Post 21 Quartermaster Tom McFadden, Christopher Cook, Leah Henry, VFW Post 21 Commander Ed Henry, and Madelynn Johnson. Christopher will be attending Saint Vincent College. Leah will be attending Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, and Madelynn will be attending Slippery Rock University. This is the 33 year for the VFW Post 21 scholarships, and this year they are worth $2,500 each. Post 21 has now awarded $125,500 to 66 deserving Connellsville area students since 1993.
