The 2024 Women Empowering Education (WEE) luncheon was held on April 5 at Our Lady of the Lake in Hendersonville with more than 400 attendees.
Through the support of title sponsors Highpoint Health Sumner with Ascension St. Thomas, Meta – Gallatin Data Center, and NASTC – The National Association of Small Trucking Companies, and an additional 40 sponsors and a host of donors, the Vol State College Foundation was able to raise over $73K this year.
Special guest Lisa Smartt, an award-winning comedian, writer, and speaker entertained guests. The highlight of the program was the student testimonies from VSCC Alum, Lanide Akintodbi and recent graduate, Jill Beamon.
Since 2008, proceeds from the Women Empowering Education (previously Educate a Woman) luncheon have provided 151 scholarships for Vol State students. The lives of each of these students have been changed through the generosity of all who attend and support this event. Not only are these students lives changed, but also the generations that follow them.
Vol State students interested in applying for the Women Empowering Education scholarship or any other Foundation scholarship, can apply through visiting, www.volstate.edu/foundation/scholarships.
