Rockwall, TX (April 24, 2025) – Rockwall ISD has partnered with VU Scholarships to offer more than 1,000 students $2.4 billion in early college scholarship opportunities before they even apply to a university or college.
Rockwall ISD’s partnership with VU Scholarships allows the students at Rockwall High School, Rockwall-Heath High School, and Quest Academy to know their college possibilities early while being awarded scholarship offers from colleges they may not have considered or known of previously.
“We are always exploring ways to remove barriers and expand students’ postsecondary options,” said Dr. Megan Gist, Chief Academic Officer. “It has been such a joy to hear story after story of students who thought college was not an option but are now exploring opportunities that they may not have otherwise considered.”
The collegiate athletic recruitment process inspired VU’s scholarship structure – college recruiters seek high school athletes based on performance and offer them scholarship opportunities before the student applies to that particular college. VU adopted this model by partnering with colleges and universities that award early academic scholarship offers to students who match their academic admissions and scholarship criteria – all at no cost to the high school or students.
VU is a platform that matches high school students with college scholarships ahead of application. In the past, students were left with the task of exploring college possibilities without knowledge of all the opportunities available them.
With VU, students can know what scholarships are awarded before considering college possibilities. When a student is granted hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars from various colleges around the country, thinking about possibilities gets a whole lot easier!
We don’t believe students should pay for something they have already earned—they deserve to know every scholarship opportunity available to them. That’s why we don’t charge students or parents to participate in our program. Our easy sign-up and low ongoing management make it a breeze for even the busiest high schools and colleges to participate.
“I created this to show students there is hope. People will notice your efforts, and you can be rewarded for it,” said Edward Márquez, inventor of the scholarship model.
