WADENA—This year marked a special milestone for Wadena County 4-H with ten graduating 4-H members being honored for their dedication and involvement in the program.
Lacey Baumgart, Wadena County 4-H Youth Development Educator , said there were three first-time scholarships awarded to graduating seniors, made possible thanks to “a generous donation from RDO.”

“RDO has helped us support these first scholarships for our graduating seniors,” Baumgart said, “And it’s the first time that’s been able to happen, and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued support.”
Each summer during the annual Wadena County Fair, 4-H members take part in Fries for 4-H, selling french fries to raise funds to support the program. RDO donates the potatoes for the french fry project, allowing 4-H youth to keep the profits.
As part of a standing 4-H tradition of recognizing seniors with a gift, each received a personalized blanket embroidered with their name and the 4-H clover. Also, for the first time, Wadena County 4-H graduating seniors received a green and white honor cord to wear at graduation to celebrate their achievements and commitment to 4-H.
