WAIMEA — The Waimea Alumni and Friends Foundation distributed 63 scholarships totalling more than $90,000 during its 2020 WAFF Scholarship Dinner held Tuesday in the school’s cafeteria.
WAIMEA — The Waimea Alumni and Friends Foundation distributed 63 scholarships totalling more than $90,000 during its 2020 WAFF Scholarship Dinner held Tuesday in the school’s cafeteria.
Of these scholarships, a first-time contribution by the Kikiaola Land Co. resulted in 10 scholarships being presented to graduating Menehune who, because of the construction of the new gymnasium, will be walking at the Hanapepe Stadium on May 23.
Other contributions from the EZ and Pauline Street Foundation, and Na‘auao o Waimea resulted in 15 scholarships from each donor.
Capt. Andy’s Sailing contributed to five different scholarships, and the Gladys Tokushige Okada Scholarship resulted in two scholarships.
Retired school principal Russ Hasegawa is the WAFF president and is involved in a series of fundraising efforts throughout the year to benefit Waimea High School and its students.
