Three dozen scholarships worth more than $430,000 recently were presented to Wakefield High School students through the Wakefield High School Educational Foundation.
Attending the recent ceremony honoring recipients were Michael Wanzer (Wakefield Class of 2004), School Board member David Priddy (Wakefield Class of 1992) and Superintendent Francisco Durán.
The 2024 grants bring to just under $4.2 million the total number of scholarships bestowed by the all-volunteer, non-profit organization since 1986. More than 600 Wakefield graduates have received funding.
The 2024 scholarships range from one-time grants to $50,000 stipends. Students will attend a variety of educational institutions, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Southern California to the University of Virginia, George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College.
