The Washington County Fair awarded 28 local high school seniors with $131,923.20 in scholarships during its annual scholarship breakfast at the county Expo, held Thursday morning.
Scholarships awarded include the Washington County Fair Scholarship, Bucket Calf Mentor Scholarship, Champion Drive Buddy Scholarship and the Queen Candidate Scholarship.
The scholars receiving the scholarships will attend 11 different universities and colleges studying a variety of fields including agriculture, health, engineering, finance and more.
“We are incredibly proud of everything our 2025 scholars have achieved,” Washington County Fair President Ricky Bosse said. “It’s a privilege to support and recognize outstanding youth in our community through scholarships like this.”
Recipients of the 2025 Washington County Fair Scholarship from Brenham High School include: Kinley Antkowiak, Landon Flisowski, Cullen Halfmann, Makayla Hueske, Corbin Janner, Barrett Kohring, Adilynn Lange, Samantha Mahlmann, Logan Mason, Austin Maurer, Avery Maurer, Hayden Mika, Kord Mikolajchak, Haylie Niemeyer, Audrey Schmidt, Magali Silva, Addison Smith, Bailey Stegint, Kenleigh Wellmann and Morgan Westerfeld. Recipients from Burton High School include: Bailey Glaesmann, Brady Griffin, Kara Kaye, Reagan Roemer and Taiden Thiel. Recipients from Grace Lutheran High School include Avila Colanter.
Recipients of the 2025 Washington County Fair Bucket Calf Mentor Scholarship were Samantha Mahlmann and Logan Mason, both of Brenham HS.
Recipients of the 2025 Washington County Fair Champion Drive Buddy Scholarship were Cullen Halfmann, Logan Mason, Kord Mikolajchak, Haylie Niemeyer and Kenleigh Wellmann, all of Brenham HS.
Recipients of the 2025 Washington County Fair Queen Candidate Scholarship were Kinley Antkowiak and Makayla Hueske, Brenham High School; Avila Colanter, Grace Lutheran High School; and Seta Naylor and Makenzie Wehmeyer, home school.
“The Washington County Fair is dedicated to promoting agriculture, horticulture and home economics, while supporting youth activities through education and scholarship,” information from the scholarship press release stated. “Since 1868, the Washington County Fair has been a culmination of efforts by volunteers, sponsors and community supporters who have dedicated their time and resources to serve area youth.”
