STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Area YMCA is hosting a family-friendly water balloon event this month to raise funds for its Swim Lesson Scholarship Fund.
The Great Water Balloon Fight will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, on the YMCA sports field. The event is free and open to the public, with water games and a large-scale water balloon battle planned.
Donations are encouraged, with all proceeds benefiting local families who need financial assistance for swim lessons.
“We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to swim, regardless of their family’s financial situation,” said McKenzi Klasinski, aquatics and sports director at the Stevens Point Area YMCA. “With drowning being one of the leading causes of accidental death in children, swim lessons can truly save lives.”
The event requires no registration. Participants are encouraged to bring towels and prepare to get wet.
More information is available at spymca.org or by contacting Klasinski at [email protected] or 715-952-9377.
