The Waxahachie Ex-Students’ Association recently presented five scholarships to Waxahachie ISD graduating seniors, Hannah Morgan, Cidney Velazquez, Tionna Owens, Abriella Martin, and Isabella Alcala.
“For over three decades, the Waxahachie Ex-Students’ Association has been awarding scholarships totaling more than $165,000,” a spokesman said. “We are honored that we were able to present scholarships totaling another $11,500 to five Waxahachie seniors. Selecting the scholarship recipients proved to be a challenging task given the numerous and highly deserving candidates.”
Morgan and Velazquez were each awarded a $4,000 Waxahachie Ex-Students’ Association Scholarship, which was established to provide financial support for graduating seniors of WISD. The applicant’s immediate family must be an alumni graduate of Waxahachie.
Owens and Martin were each awarded a $1,250 Athletic Hall of Fame Scholarship, which was established to provide financial support for a graduating senior from WISD who excels at athletics, academics, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Alcala was awarded a $1,000 Steve and Rebecca Wright Scholarship Honoring Brett Winn Fine Arts Scholarship, which was established to provide financial support for a graduating senior from WISD who plans to pursue further education and or training in the field of fine arts.
“We would like to thank the Dove’s Nest and alumni Mark and Stephanie Ashmore for the amazing dinner and presentation set up,” the spokesman said. “We would also like to thank the numerous volunteers and most especially the donors that make presenting scholarships a reality.”
