When you think about college scholarships, you probably imagine awards based on GPA, sports or financial need. But did you know scholarships exist out there for those who love running, inventing superpowers — or even articulating what ice cream flavor best reflects their personality.
These original scholarships opportunities prove that money for college can come from the most unexpected places. And whether you’re a high school senior or already enrolled in college, there’s no limit to how many unique scholarships like these you can apply for. That effort can add up to serious savings on tuition, books and more.
Below, we’ve rounded up a list of obscure scholarships. They range from $500 to $10,000 and are awarded based on quirky essays, hobbies, personal traits and more. Some of these may speak directly to your personality, interests or even sense of humor.
