The West Hancock Sports Boosters hosted their third annual Booster Bash sports kickoff event at the Smokin’ Gun Hunting Lodge and Event Center near Hamilton Saturday, July 26.
Two Hamilton and two Warsaw student athletes were awarded $750 scholarships.
The Heart of a Titan Scholarship is awarded to one Hamilton and one Warsaw graduating senior athlete who put their energy and efforts toward the success of their teams through leadership and mentoring despite personal situations and made a meaningful impact on their teammates, school and community. Warsaw’s winner of the $750 scholarship was Gavin Grothaus, who will be attending Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. His area of study will be business. He will also be playing on the men’s basketball team.
Brayden Barnett was the Hamilton winner of the $750 scholarship. He plans to attend the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. Barnett plans to double major in business administration and flight operations with the eventual goal of owning his own charter flight business.
The Titan Pride Scholarship is awarded to one Hamilton and one Warsaw graduating senior athlete who embodies Titan Pride both on the field, on the court, in the classroom and in their community.
Warsaw’s winner of the $750 scholarship was Lakinn Larson. She will attend Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. Larson plans to study education with the goal of being a high school math teacher. She will also play on the Sandburg woman’s softball team.
Hamilton’s winner of the $750 scholarship was Skilee Keefe. She plans to attend Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., to study law and wishes to be a lawyer upon graduation. Skilee was a Titan football cheerleader and manager of the wrestling team.
