In January, members of the Westerly College Club granted more than $51,000 in scholarships to students from Westerly, Charlestown, Hopkinton, Richmond, Stonington and North Stonington who entering their sophomore, junior, or senior years to help finance a bachelor’s degree at a four-year accredited institution. Fifteen of the 17 awardees, pictured above, attended the meeting and shared information about their educational pursuits and career aspirations.
The scholarship winners include: Nathan Clark, geography, Clark University; Karyna Fowler, education/psychology and dance, Bucknell University; Olivia Fustini, civil engineering/architecture, Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Abigail (Abbie) Gibson, chemistry applied mathematics and statistics, Johns Hopkins University; John Grissom, finance, Bryant University; Paige Grissom, chemical engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Ray (Trey) Jones, III, communications and media studies, Southern Connecticut State University; Veronica Kushner, engineering/music, Yale University; Michelle Macina, environmental engineering & biology, Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Emily Ornberg, undeclared major, Western New England University; Connor Pierce, business, University of Rhode Island; Ryan Scanapieco, electrical engineering/mechatronics, Villanova University; Margaret (Maggie) Stahl, architecture/business management, Wentworth Institute of Technology; William Steere, chemical engineering, University of New Hampshire; and Michael Urgo, Kinesiology/Political Science, University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Not pictured are David Bilotto, politics/pre-Law, Catholic University and James Smith, creative writing, Emerson College.
