The CarolinaEast Foundation was presented with a $10,000 donation from the Dereck Whittenburg Foundation to provide nursing scholarships to area students.
North Carolina State University Basketball legend Dereck Whittenburg and his wife, Jacqueline, presented a $10,000 check to the CarolinaEast Foundation at the CarolinaEast Medical Center, 2000 Neuse Blvd., on Monday.
The funds for nursing scholarships were the result of a celebrity golf tournament held at The Emerald Golf Club in New Bern in November, which Robinson and Stith Insurance helped organize.
Founded in 2015, the mission of the Dereck Whittenburg Foundation is to provide financial assistance to deserving college students who otherwise may not have the funds to attend college.
