BEND, Ore. — Wild Ride Brewing donated a total of $15,000 Tuesday to a memorial scholarship honoring Jake and Josh Eckstein, two brothers killed in a 2019 crash while driving to work in Prineville.
Their parents, Scott and Phyllis, started the memorial scholarship fund to help local high school seniors attend and graduate trade school.
“So far we’ve given away nine scholarships to nine individuals and we’re helping them to go trade school. It’s very rewarding and we’re giving back to the community. Many of these kids are already starting to serve us and come back here and take trade jobs. It’s a rewarding experience and what we’re doing is working,” Scott said.
The Ecksteins say Wild Ride Brewing first reached out to them about the fundraising opportunity. They attended two check presentations Monday at the brewery’s locations in Prineville and Redmond.
