UA coach Tommy Lloyd says the Wildcats’ trip to Cincinnati and West Virginia was successful on and off the court.
Arizona has put walk-on seniors Grant Weitman and Luke Champion on scholarship for the spring semester.
A 6-4 guard, Weitman is a Salpointe High School graduate who is in his fifth year with the Wildcats. He went through Senior Day ceremonies last season with the intention of possibly transferring elsewhere after graduating last May but ultimately returned.

The 6-8 Champion played at Samford in 2020-21 and at Missouri Western State in 2021-22 before joining Arizona for the 2022-23 season.
Both Weitman and Champion are key players on UA’s “green teams,” who work out against the Wildcats’ regular rotation players in practice games and drills.
“You guys are studs,” UA coach Tommy Lloyd told both players before a practice Thursday, as seen on a video the school posted. “We love you, and we’re giving you a full ride.”
The Wildcats have been two under the 13-player scholarship limit all season, but kept the two spots open during the fall semester. Doing so allowed them the possibility of offering a scholarship to a mid-year recruit.
