The spirit of aloha and paniolo pride was alive and well at the inaugural Windward Paniolo BBQ, held September 20, 2025 at Windward Community College. The event welcomed more than 800 attendees from across the Windward side and beyond, offering an afternoon packed with food, fun and family-friendly entertainment—all while raising more than $8,000 in scholarship funds for local students.
The celebration was a true homage to Hawaiʻi’s cowboy heritage, featuring horseback rides, a petting zoo, local crafts, games and a popular “Country Market.” Guests donned cowboy hats and palaka and filled up on hearty plate lunches—a feast fit for even the hungriest paniolo. Keiki and kūpuna alike enjoyed the festivities, with live music setting the tone for a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
“It’s been a wonderful time for our family to build a better sense of community. We’re having a lot of fun. So keiki friendly. Everything down to the food and the music. We had a great time!” shared Leah Dowsett, a local resident who attended with her ʻohana (family).
Kimo Naylon, another attendee, added, “The music is great. I love the lineup. I would definitely come again next year.”
Beyond the fun, the BBQ also served as an opportunity to highlight Windward CC’s ongoing commitment to education and community outreach. The funds raised will go directly toward scholarships and college advancement to support students pursuing their academic goals.
With its successful turnout and glowing feedback, the Windward Paniolo BBQ has already positioned itself as a new annual favorite—a place where culture, community and education come together paniolo style.
