Analysis, knowledge and skills for the modern global music business
The Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective and Amazon Music are teaming up for a fourth year of their ‘Your Future is Now’ scholarship. It’s aimed at students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who are interested in careers in the music industry. Five students will get grants of $10k each, and an “immersive rotational program” with the two organisations.
The scheme will also award two HBCUs $10k grants each to buy equipment for their music programs. “One of the most amazing experiences I have had the pleasure of enjoying! Apply!” encouraged Joseph Abiakam, one of last year’s scholars, in a LinkedIn post. “It’s crucial that we continue investing in the next generation of Black music creators and professionals, equipping them to lead and shape the future of the music industry,” added Recording Academy boss Harvey Mason Jr in a statement.
