The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation, Inc. (YLD) is thrilled to announce that Maryland State Office of the Fire Marshal Master Deputy Oliver Alkire has been awarded the prestigious Chief G. Crawford Wiestling Scholarship Award. This honor highlights his dedication to public service and commitment to advancing his expertise in Public Safety Administration. He is one of seven scholarship and award YLD 2024 recipients.
Acting State Fire Marshal Jason Mowbray shared his congratulations, stating, “Congratulations to Master Deputy Alkire on receiving the Chief G. Crawford Wiestling Scholarship. His commitment to public service is inspiring, and this scholarship will support him as he continues his education in Public Safety Administration. Thank you to the Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation for recognizing him and the other recipients to promote their professional development.”
Master Deputy/State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire expressed his gratitude: “I am truly honored and grateful to receive the Chief G. Crawford Wiestling Scholarship Award. This opportunity will allow me to continue my studies at Neumann University and enhance my ability to serve the citizens of Maryland. I want to thank the Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation for their support and belief in my potential.”
YLD is proud to support the professional development of outstanding leaders like Master Deputy Alkire. As a non-profit private foundation, YLD promotes leadership growth among members of the fire, hazardous materials, and emergency medical services communities. The Foundation was created in memory of James G. Yvorra, whose life’s work focused on improving fire and emergency medical services.
The Chief G. Crawford Wiestling Scholarship Award is given in honor of the 32 years of volunteer service Chief Wiestling rendered to the Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation as Chairman of the Scholarship and Awards Committee. One or more awards may be made to qualified applicants in order to recognize an individual who made a difference through their contributions to firefighter safety and health.
