JACKSON, Tenn. — Southwest Development District hosted a special awards luncheon Friday.
12 high schoolers from 12 different schools around West Tennessee were awarded college scholarships for their participation and graduation of a six month leadership course offered through SWDD.
Each month , students were brought into the Southwest Human Resource Agency’s headquarters in Henderson.
“We’ve talked about leadership, we talked about what Southwest does for the communities, they visited Nashville, they learned about the legislature, and it’s just been a very exciting program with 12 of the very smartest kids I’ve ever been around in my life,” said Jimmy Sain, Resource Development Coordinator, SWHRA.
Sain shares that the outstanding students make him feel good about the future of West Tennessee.
The goal is to replicate this program again next year.
