Ontario students can now apply for a variety of scholarships, grants, and bursaries to help them pursue post-secondary studies in agriculture-related fields. Here is a partial list, organized by application deadline.

Undergrad Scholarship
Seven $7,000 scholarships (payable over four years of study) for full-time students at the University of Guelph with at least a 75% admission average and having completed at least ten 4-H projects. Applicants must submit a list of 4-H activities and a reference letter. Application deadline: April 15.

Canadian Agri-Business
Education Foundation
Seven $2,500 scholarships for full-time students entering or currently pursuing an agriculture-related program at a Canadian university, college, or apprenticeship (trade) institution. Applicants must submit an essay or video answering a question found on the website. Application deadline: 5:00 p.m. on April 30.

Masterfeeds: Future
Masterfeeder Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship open to individuals aged 17-19 pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture. Preference will be given to students majoring in animal science or biology. Applicants must submit an essay on what they hope to achieve for the future of agriculture through their post-secondary education. Application deadline: April 30.
Future Ag Master Program

MAY
G3 Grow Beyond Scholarship
Six scholarships of $4,000 each for students graduating high school and pursuing post-secondary studies in any discipline. Applicants must submit a video essay describing their vision for the future of agriculture and how their studies will help achieve it. Public voting is part of selection process. Application deadline: May 2.

4-H Canada
The national organization will award 33 4-H members pursuing post-secondary education with scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 each through four scholarship programs. Application deadline: May 31.

Parrish and Heimbecker Scholarship
One $1,000 award for a University of Guelph student who has demonstrated a commitment to the agriculture and food industry, measured by the time they have dedicated to work, extracurricular activities, or volunteer activities related to the industry during undergraduate degree. Keith Gilmore: Future of the Breed Scholarship
Up to four $1,000 scholarships for Canadian Junior Hereford Association members entering a full-time post-secondary program. Applicants must submit a resume, answer a question found on the website, an essay describing interests, an essay describing involvement as a CJHA member, an essay on non-CJHA activities, and reference letter. Application deadline: May 15.

Keith Gilmore Foundation:
Hereford Youth Scholarship
Up to four $2,500 scholarships offered to students registered in ongoing undergraduate studies in any program leading to a career in the livestock industry. Applicants must be current or past members of the Canadian Junior Hereford Association. Applicants must submit a resume of extracurriculars, two letters of reference, and a written statement outlining career goals. Application deadline: June 1.

Ontario Dairy Youth Trust Fund Scholarship
Eight scholarships of $1,000 for students enrolled in a university or college. Youth from all six dairy breeds are eligible. Selection is based on the applicant’s agricultural background, 4-H and Junior Farmer involvement, community activities, future goals. Application deadline: June 15.

Ontario Joint Dairy Breeds Future Leaders Scholarship
Three scholarships of $1,000 for students enrolled in a post-secondary agricultural or dairy apprenticeship program who have completed first year. Applicants must be members or children of members of a dairy breed association. Application deadline: end of June.

Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association Youth Scholarship
Up to three $2,500 scholarships recognizing interest, knowledge, and achievements in the Eastern Ontario ag community. Applicants must be enrolled in at least the second year of studies at a university or college and planning to pursue a career in agriculture. Application deadline: June 30.
Youth Scholarships

Nuffield Canada
Numerous $15,000 scholarships for Ontario farmers aged 25 years or older to travel the world studying agriculture. The travel is for a minimum of 10 weeks within two years. Application deadline: June 30.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer’s Program: Memorial Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships. One for individual who has completed at least one year of postsecondary studies in agriculture and one for a high school grad enrolling in post-secondary education in agriculture. Applicants must submit an essay. Application deadline: June 30.

Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario
Four $2,500 scholarships for youth studying agriculture or agri-business and are the children or grandchildren of CFFO members. Applicants must submit an essay. Application deadline: Jul. 31

Canadian Dairy Commission
Two awards of $20,000 available to University of Guelph students over three semesters for dairy-related studies. Selection based on academic excellence and research potential. Application deadline: Aug. 15.

Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association: Soil Health Scholarship

Ontario Federation of Agriculture Bursary Program
Three bursaries of $2,000 each for students of OFA families who are pursuing post-secondary education for a career in ag-related field. Applicants must demonstrate volunteer and industry-related accomplishments, interest in agriculture and rural issues, community involvement and satisfactory academic performance. Application deadline: Usually end of August.

SEPTEMBER
Ontario Sheep Farmers: Undergrad Scholarship
One $500 scholarship for students enrolled in a first or second-year post-secondary program. Applicants must be 21 years old or younger, be registered sheep producers or have a parent/guardian sheep producer or be a member of a 4-H Ontario sheep club. Applicants must submit an article or video on select topics listed on website. Application deadline: Sept. 14.

Canadian Total Excellence in Agricultural Management (CTEAM)
One $4,500 scholarship is offered to a farmer who wants to learn more about financial, marketing, and human relations management skills that can be applied to home farm. Four one-week courses over two years. The money can be used for tuition and travel. Must be at least 21 years of age. Application deadline: Usually mid-September.

Young Leader Scholarships
