Up to $60,000 each available to individuals for college educations
Five seniors from Southwest High School’s Class of 2025 have been awarded the prestigious Hagan Scholarship, which provides recipients with up to $60,000 to help fund their college educations.
In addition to financial assistance, the Hagan Scholarship offers winners exclusive opportunities such as study abroad programs, guidance in managing brokerage accounts and funds to purchase essential college supplies.
‘These five students join three of their peers from the Class of 2024 who were awarded the Hagan Scholarship last year,’ said Cassandra Hoadley, rootEd advisor at Southwest High School. ‘The eight students represent a remarkable achievement for Southwest High School and exemplify the school’s commitment to student success.’
The recipients of the 2025 Hagan Scholarship include:
• Brody Osborne: will be attending Missouri State University, majoring in Wildlife Conservation and Management.
• Piper King: will pursue Psychology at Missouri State University.
• Kelsee Merritt: plans to attend Missouri State University and major in BioMedical Sciences.
• Saige Miller: is headed to Missouri State University with plans to study Marketing
• Becca Swanepoel: will attend a 4 Year University, majoring in History Education.
“We are incredibly proud of these students,” said Rusty Roe, principal at Southwest High School. “The Hagan Scholarship is a life-changing opportunity, and it’s wonderful to see our students achieve this milestone. These scholarships will provide them with a solid foundation to succeed in college and beyond.”
The application process for the Hagan Scholarship was supported by Hoadley, the advisor for rootEd Alliance, in partnership with Ozarks Technical Community College, works to empower students by offering resources, guidance and support to help them achieve lifelong success in whatever pathway the student chooses.
“We are grateful for Cassie’s dedication and guidance throughout this process,” said Jordi Miller, counselor at Southwest High School. “Her support was crucial to these students’ success, and we are thrilled to see their hard work pay off with such a remarkable scholarship.”
