Clearfield Co.- With prom season and high school graduation fast approaching for the senior class of 2025, the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation announces several new scholarship opportunities available for the first time along with scholarships available in prior years.  
During the 2024 scholarship cycle, the Charitable Foundation and the scholarship committees who established scholarship funds with the CCCF awarded over $75,000 in scholarships.   In addition to standard academic and sports related scholarships, many of the Charitable Foundation scholarships are geared towards students accepted to 2 and 4 year degree programs pursuing careers in specialized fields like construction trades, electrical services, culinary arts, hospitality management, nursing and other health care related fields.   
For 2025, the following scholarships are being offered for the first time: 
John L. Jr and Viola Eamigh Memorial Scholarship Fund – available to GRADUTING SENIORS OF CLEARFIELD AREA HIGH SCHOOL, the scholarship was established by John L. Eamigh III and Peggy Materkowski in honor of their parents, John L. Jr. and Viola Eamigh.   A scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduate of Clearfield Area High School or a CAHS student graduating from CCCTC who will be attending an accredited vocational, technical or trade school pursuing a career in construction, mechanical, technology, health occupations or other trades related fields.   Criteria and selection will stress financial need over high academic standing as it is the desire of the Eamigh family to help a special student that needs a financial hand up to fulfill their career dreams and goals.
Scipione Family Scholarship – available to GRADUATING SENIORS OF CURWENSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL and offered by the Scipione Family to one graduating senior from the Curwensville Area High School who is graduating in good standing and has shown a commitment to their academic studies while being active in their school and community.   The scholarship will be paid in 2 installments, 1/2 for the fall semester and, on confirmation of successful completion of the fall term, the second 1/2 released for the spring semester.
Nellie Pentz Memorial Scholarship – available to any graduating senior who resides in Clearfield County who will be pursuing a career in Nursing or another Health Care related field.   The scholarship was established by Thomas and Patty Culler in memory of Patty’s grandmother Nellie Pentz who is remembered for her kindness, compassion and generosity to her family, church and the Clearfield community.   Nellie Pentz supported educational opportunities for woman and encouraged Patty to pursue a career in nursing.    Applicants will be screened on both academic standing and financial need.
Russell Pentz and Sons Memorial Scholarship – available to any graduating senior who resides in Clearfield County who will be pursuing a career in the construction trades including architecture and engineering.   Thomas and Patty Culler established this scholarship fund in memory of Patty’s grandfather Russell Pentz, her uncles Bruce and Harold and her father William who were building contractors in the Clearfield area for over 50 years.   Applicants will be screened on both academic standing and financial need.
Children’s Orthopedics Services INC Scholarship – available to a graduating senior from Clearfield Area High School who will be pursuing a career in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Registered Nursing or Physician Assistant and who maintains good standing with the community and school.
Fred L. and Bernece C. Rhoads Nursing Scholarship – is available to students enrolled and accepted for the fall semester in the CCCTC Practical Nursing Program.
For 2025, the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation also welcomes the Brenda Clapsadle Thornhill Memorial Scholarship established by the Clapsadle family in memory of Brenda.    As in prior years, the scholarship will continue to award a scholarship to female athletes who graduate from Clearfield and Curwensville High School along with the Leadership Scholarship that will be awarded to 1 female student from either Clearfield or Curwensville high schools.
The following scholarships awarded in prior years will continue to be available as described:  Evelyn Czarnecki Verbeke Memorial Scholarship – to encourage and support graduates of any Clearfield County high school to pursue and complete an educational program and degree in nursing, the Reitz Theater Performing Arts Scholarship is available to students of DuBois High School, DuBois Central Catholic and Brockway High School who have participated or been involved with performances or volunteering at the Reitz Theater, Taylor Harpster, T-Harp Memorial Scholarship available to students of Philipsburg Osceola High School,  Scott Beers Memorial Scholarship available to students graduating from the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center,  Meghan Deininger Memorial Scholarship available to students in Clearfield, Blair, Centre and Jefferson counties who will be pursuing a career in culinary arts or hospitality management,  the Arnold and Ethel Cameron Memorial Scholarship available to students graduating from most Clearfield County schools including the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center, Jeff Tech, DuBois High School and DuBois Central Catholic, Punxsutawney High School and Punxsutawney Christian School, the Joseph and Mary McFarland Bishop Memorial Scholarship for students graduating from Clearfield Area High School, Clearfield County Career and Technology Center, Jeff Tech, DuBois High School, DuBois Central Catholic, Punxsutawney High School or Punxsutawney Christian School pursuing a career in nursing or health care related fields.   There will also be an award presented from the Be the Kindness Fund in Memory of Westin Cantolina that will be awarded to a student graduating from the CCCTC Welding Program.
Scholarships offered specifically to Clearfield Area High School seniors only are: the Ava Evans Memorial Scholarship, Ardell Bressler Memorial Scholarship, Bob E. Day Memorial Scholarship, CAHS Class of ’62 Scholarship, CAHS Class of ’72 Scholarship, CAHS Class of ’75 Scholarship, Cunningham Scholarship, Gerald Read Memorial Scholarship, Kenneth McMillen Swimming Scholarship, Marsha Novey Memorial Scholarship, the Golden Bison Scholarships including the Harry W. Rowles Memorial Scholarships presented by the Golden Bison Alumni Association and the Shirley Ann McKee Memorial Scholarship with applications available at the Guidance Office.  
Scholarships for Curwensville Area High School:  Eileen C. Withey Memorial Scholarship, the Shirley Rowles Miller Memorial Scholarship, the Shirley Ann McKee Memorial Scholarship and the Scipione Family Scholarship with applications available at the Curwensville Guidance Office.  
Additionally, the Janet McCracken Hansard Memorial Scholarship is available to students in school districts in Clearfield County and the DuBois Rotary Club Scholarships are available to students in DuBois High School, DCC and Brockway Area High School.   Applications for these scholarships should be available in the Guidance Department at each school.
CCCF Executive Director Mark McCracken said, “The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation continues to work with many area families and organizations to expand the scholarships available to graduating seniors in Clearfield County.  It is very exciting and fulfilling to see the quality of applications that are received from the graduating seniors and to help them achieve their goal of furthering their education and career goals.   While scholarship committees take into consideration each students academic standing and GPA, they also consider the financial need of the student, employment history while in high school and involvement in community service.  The goal of the Charitable Foundation and the scholarship committees we work with is to provide financial assistance to as many students as possible so they can pursue the career of their choice and be successful in life”.
