HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hays State University has named 1,884 students to the Deans’ Honor Roll for the fall 2024 semester.
Central Nebraska student earning honors include: Kylon Jurgens of Doniphan; Jade Bentley of Gibbon; Kobye Costillam, Ella Lorenz and Chloe Mader of Grand Island; Kyto Warner of Hasitngs; Sean Campbell, Grant Drumheller, Eliana Hagemann and Addison Splittgerber of Kearney; and Kylie Caspersen of St. Libory.
The Deans’ Honor Roll includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have completed 12 or more credit hours and earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.60 for the semester. Full-time on-campus and online students are eligible.
Carolyn Maser of Grand Island and Seth Simonson of Hastings were named to the President’s List for the fall semester at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Both students are majoring in Pharmacy & Health Sciences. To be eligible for the President’s List, students must have earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2024 semester at Drake.
Myranda Nelson of St. Edward was among the more than 8,700 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the dean’s list for the 2024 fall semester at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Two area students have earned academic honors for the fall semester at the College of St. Mary in Omaha. Claire Caspersen of Cairo was named to the Dean’s List; she is a senior majoring in Elementary Education. Alivia Schade of Kearney was named to the President’s Honor Roll; she is a senior majoring in Business. To qualify for the President’s Honor Roll, students must earn a 3.9 GPA or above after completing at least 12 semester hours as full-time students. For inclusion on the Dean’s List, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Lauren Campbell of Kearney was named to the Dean’s List of Academic Honors for the fall semester at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Students on the list are undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours. In addition, Campbell was named to the President’s Honor Roll for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Kaylee Powell of Central City was recently awarded the Virgil Eihusen Scholarship by the NE Chamber Foundation. Powell, a student at Concordia University in Seward, was one of six students at state universities receiving a $2,500 scholarship named for past Nebraska Business Hall of Fame honorees. Students must be sophomores or juniors in a business-related field, show demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities and maintain at least a 3.0 grade point-average to be considered. Since 1997, the NE Chamber Foundation has awarded more than $267,000 in scholarships to more than 130 students across Nebraska.
Gracie Ackles of Farwell was one of five recipients of a scholarship awarded by the Nebraska Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society, the Nebraska Soil & Water Conservation Foundation and the Nebraska Chapter SWCSUNL Foundation for the spring semester. Each recipient was awarded $1,000. Ackles is a freshman at Chadron State College majoring in Rangeland Management and Agricultural Education, and received the Dave Langemeier Memorial Scholarship.
Derrick Ruzicka, a senior at St. Paul High School, was one of six Nebraska high school students selected to receive a $500 Financial Aid Program Scholarships from EducationQuest Foundation. Recipients were selected from more than 900 students who registered for the scholarship after attending one of EducationQuest’s virtual or in-person Financial Aid Programs this academic year. EducationQuest hosted nearly 4,700 attendees at 105 Financial Aid Programs across the state, which were intended to educate students and parents about the college financial aid application process.
