High school seniors in a five-county area will have the opportunity to win a scholarship ranging from $500 to $1,000 from the Northeast Kansas Pro-Life Action League. The selection of recipients will be based primarily, on a 300-500 word essay on the topic, “Comparing Abortion to Slavery.” Other criteria for selecting recipients will include academic achievement, letters of recommendation and pro-life involvement. The organization awarded eight scholarships last school year.
Scholarship applications may be obtained through the counselor’s office in public and private schools in Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson and Nemaha counties. Homeschool graduating seniors are also eligible to apply and may call 785-486-2785 to receive an application.
The deadline to return the application, the essay and the required documents by email to nekprolife@gmail.com is April 15.
The Northeast Kansas Pro-Life Action League is a nonprofit 501c3 organization that advocates the value of life — preborn and born — through education, billboards, scholarships, community events, personal support for those in crisis pregnancies as well as donations for agencies that provide life-affirming ultrasounds for girls and women in high-abortion areas.
