For the second year in a row, Bruce Power is offering scholarships for students enrolled in Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs in an effort to ease the shortfall of childcare workers in Bruce County.
“Access to childcare continues to be a struggle for families in our region,” said Karen Smith, Bruce Power’s Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Last year, our scholarships helped students in our area who will become our future childhood educators and we’re hoping this program will help to alleviate this issue going forward.”
Last year, Bruce Power proudly presented 13 Early Childhood Education students with scholarships to offset the costs associated with receiving certification and is running the program again in 2024.
To be eligible for the Bruce Power Early Childhood Education Scholarship, applicants must:
Applicants can submit their application, essay, and proof of registration as soon as they are registered, until Sept. 30, 2024. Scholarships will be awarded by October 31, 2024.
Residents of Bruce County can also apply to the county to have 50 per cent of their tuition paid.
Students with a related diploma, degree, or work experience can apply to fast-track their course completion. Students can also apply to be exempt from course placement requirements if they are currently working in a licensed childcare program or have experience that meets the program’s placement and learning goals.
