The Canadian Federation of University Women, Cowichan Valley, alumnae has awarded three scholarships to Cowichan Valley students graduating from a high school in 2024.
“Congratulations to this year’s recipients,” the group said in a press release.
Three scholarship/bursary recipients were chosen from School District 79 by a committee of CFUW members reviewing more than 40 applications. Each recipient was awarded $1,500. The three winners are Nichollette Kamal, Megan Bell and Naiomi Holland.
Kamal graduated from Cowichan Secondary School and has been accepted to Vancouver Island University, at the Duncan campus. She will be entering the Biology/Zoology program. Her ultimate ambition is to become a zoologist.
Bell graduated from Lake Cowichan Secondary School and has been accepted to Vancouver Island University, at the Nanaimo campus. She will be entering the Exploratory Studies program. Her ultimate ambition is to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology, leading to a career in botany.
Holland graduated from Cowichan Secondary School and has been accepted to the University of Victoria. She will be working toward her Bachelor of Social Sciences with a major in Environmental Studies. Her ultimate ambition is to bring climate justice to local and international communities through working in either environmental law or consulting.
