Getting trained and certified for a new career can be expensive, often costing thousands of dollars. But a new offering from the Kentucky Career Center is making it more affordable for residents of Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties to pursue a new career.
“We’re focused on helping people get into quality jobs that offer good pay and prospects for the future,” said KentuckianaWorks Executive Director Michael Gritton, the Louisville region’s seven-county workforce development board that oversees the area’s Kentucky Career Centers. “Training is a great way to jump start your career or make a career change, but the cost is a barrier for many people. These scholarships help make it possible.”
The scholarships can be applied to approved training for professions that offer sustainable wages. Training options are available in a variety of high-demand fields including healthcare, technology, business, manufacturing, construction, logistics, and many others.
There are a limited number of training scholarships available and they are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. An application is required. To learn more about training opportunities and eligibility, contact the Kentucky Career Center at 502-230-8019 or complete the online interest form at KCCLou.org. Those interested can also visit one of the Kentucky Career Center’s regional locations: 316 Main St in Shelbyville and 2820 W Broadway, Suite 100 in Louisville.
