In response to requests by Lisle High School seniors for a scholarship to further their business education, the Carlin Nalley Foundation board voted to add its 10th scholarship, the Future Business Leader award and scholarship.
“We learned about the need for the FBL Award during a tabling event at LHS in the spring of 2024. CNF Directors Rachel Birkley and Karla Modelski reported that numerous students inquired about a business award, which we could not fulfill,” said foundation president John Bartels.
At the same time, Lisle High School’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Hobart L. Epstein of the Class of 1974, felt a need to give back to Lisle, offering to support a business/finance career path scholarship through the Carlin Nalley Foundation.
Epstein has had a significant career in South Korea, holding various leadership positions in investment banking and securities companies.
“(Lisle High School) had a significant impact on my life. I want to share my business and finance experiences by mentoring aspiring LHS students,” Epstein said.
Lisle High School will administer the award through the creation of an application and selection process with at least a dozen applicants expected.
“The school believes this new scholarship will support and encourage the growing number of students who aspire to become business leaders,” said Lisle High School Principal Eric Martzolf.
The first Future Business Leader Scholarship will be awarded during the Lisle High senior awards program in the spring of 2025.
“I was impressed with how effective Rachel and Karla’s interaction was for the students,” stated Jennifer Zimmerman, assistant principal of student services. “We are excited to have the CNF board return for CNF scholarship tabling with the seniors; not once but twice!”
Now that is teamwork, making the dream work!
The Carlin Nalley Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization representing Lisle High School alumni. Its mission has three parts.
First, it provides scholarships to Lisle High School students across various fields of studies, activities, and achievements. Financial support is generated through alumni contributions and fundraising activities.
Second, the foundation partners with Lisle High School and their enrichment programs, assisting the school by providing students with career counseling and mentoring.
Third, the foundation organizes events that unite alumni, provide opportunities to renew lifelong friendships, honor alumni service (especially military) and achievements, and celebrate shared experiences and love for Lisle High School.
The Carlin Nalley Foundation aspires to grow its mission as they increase the value of the scholarship program and the number of alumni they reach to bring back for events and enrichment programs. The foundation welcomes the participation of Lisle High School alumni and the Lisle community in achieving this mission.
