Casper College has a new scholarship available to students studying science.
The college announced last week that a new scholarship had been established in memory of Campbell McWhinnie, who taught from 1945 to 1977. He was the head of the chemistry department and served as the chair of the physical science division for 13 years.
Awards will be given out each fall and spring. Science majors with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible for this scholarship.
In recognition of his 32 years of teaching at Casper College, McWhinnie was awarded the Commitment to Excellence from the Casper College Alumni Association in 1992. The award is given to those who have given exemplary service to and have made a significant difference in the growth and development of Casper College, according to news release.
The endowed scholarship was established by John and Renata Smathers.
