The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce has opened applications for its annual scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to local graduating seniors. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 28.
The scholarship initiative, presented in partnership with Robert Bosch, LLC, is part of the Chamber’s Education and Workforce Development Division. The program aims to strengthen the local workforce and address the challenges of global competition and advancing technology.
Each year, the Chamber and Bosch award four scholarships to high school seniors:
Two $1,000 STEM scholarships are available for students planning to attend a four-year college or university in South Carolina to pursue majors in science, technology, engineering or math.
Two $500 scholarships for students attending an accredited two-year technical college in South Carolina.
Eligible applicants must be graduating seniors from Dorchester County or the children of Chamber-member business owners or employees in good standing.
Interested students can apply for the scholarships at www.greatersummerville.org/applications-for-chamber-scholarships-now-open.
Since 2011, when Robert Bosch LLC joined as a co-sponsor, the Chamber and Bosch have awarded scholarships annually, contributing more than $70,000 to support students in the community. These funds have been raised through Chamber member contributions and fundraising efforts, including 50/50 raffles at Business After Hours events.
