AUBURN — The Auburn Community Band has established an instrumental music scholarship program serving youth musicians to assist with private lessons, an instrument rental or purchase, or a music camp.
This year’s recipients are Aleah Lank and Ashton Radcliff.
Applicants must be a middle school, high school or a current college student majoring in an instrumental music field in college or participating in an instrumental ensemble sponsored by an educational institution.
Each applicant was required to fill out an application and provide a short essay (600 words or less) telling why music is important and why this music award will be meaningful to the applicant.
One of the major goals of the Auburn Community Band is to foster community interest in the arts and the performance of music throughout one’s life. An individual does not need to be a virtuoso to play a musical instrument. One just needs the interest and dedication needed to practice and perform.
