The 2025 Community Foundation of Shelby County scholarship applications are now available to local high school seniors, current college students and adults pursuing college, trade and technical schooling.
Online applications are accessed at commfoun.com, where students can apply for some of the 95 local scholarship funds awarding more than $420,000.
Some scholarships provide a one-time award and others are renewable.
“We have three application deadlines: Feb. 13 for high school senior scholarships, March 13 for skilled trades scholarships for seniors or adults and May 29 for college or adult student scholarships,” said Juli Smith, Foundation scholarships and grants manager. “Access applications by clicking Apply For Scholarships, in the Scholarships section of the Community Foundation website. It is important that students pick the correct application. For instance, high school seniors must select the Current High School Senior application.”
“We have scholarships for anyone countywide and many for students at specific schools. Some are limited to those who have participated in a specific activity or sport or students pursuing a certain college major. There is a wide range of opportunities.
“Our Skills Scholarship application is for any high school senior or adult enrolling in a trade, technical or vocational program or an Associates degree that leads to employment. This application does not require past grade or financial information. It relies on a student’s intent for their career and past experience showing an understanding of what the career demands. These students should complete the Skills Scholarship application, but they may also be eligible for the high school senior or adult and current college student scholarships and they can apply to those, as well.”
The online application can be started and then completed in future sessions, but incomplete applications will be rejected if not finished by its deadline. Community Foundation staff will help applicants with any questions they have prior to the deadlines.
