CAMBRIDGE — The due date for applications for local high school seniors interested in Cambridge’s long-running college scholarship program is drawing near, city officials said.
In an announcement, city officials said applications for the 2025 City of Cambridge Scholarship program are due March 3. The scholarship program, now in its 33rd year, offers financial assistance to college-bound high school seniors and other Cambridge residents pursuing post-secondary education.
Applicants can submit applications online at Cambridgema.gov/cityscholarship.
Last year, the city awarded $240,000 — 80 scholarships for $3,000 each. Since its start in 1993, the program has awarded 1,433 scholarships totaling $3.6 million.
Scholarships are designed to alleviate the financial burden of higher education.
In their announcement, city officials said eligibility requirements for winning a scholarship include being a Cambridge resident, being enrolled or accepted at an accredited institution beyond high school before the award date of May 2025 and committing to using scholarship funds during the 2025-26 academic year.

Previous recipients are not eligible for additional scholarships.
The city Finance Department administers scholarship funding, with a committee of six residents appointed by the city manager responsible for reviewing applications. Applications are assessed based on academic achievement, financial need, community involvement, extracurricular activities and special circumstances.
Those interested in applying should ensure they obtain the necessary signatures before submitting applications. Questions about the scholarship can be directed to the Cambridge Finance Department at Scholarships@cambridgema.gov.
