DEMCO announced it has begun accepting scholarship applications from members who are attending, or plan to attend, a Louisiana public college or university.
Winners will be randomly drawn at the co-op’s annual meeting May 10 and students will be eligible for an award of $1,250 for each of two consecutive semesters, according to a news release.
“Our not-for-profit, local ownership approach to rates and electric service provides us with unique opportunities to make a positive impact in our community,” DEMCO CEO Randy Pierce said in the announcement. “Scholarship awards to DEMCO-member-students are a great way to invest in brighter futures for our co-op members.”
Winners must meet all eligibility requirements for the 2025-2026 academic year for each of the two consecutive semesters and more information can be found at the website.
Per the release, DEMCO has awarded 461 awards to students for a total of $1,153,153.
