DICKINSON — The DSU Heritage Foundation (DSU HF) will host its annual Give Day event on Nov. 12, a 24-hour fundraising effort dedicated to supporting scholarships and student programs at Dickinson State University (DSU). This year, the Foundation is aiming to raise $100,000 with the help of more than 350 donors, continuing a growing tradition of community support for DSU students.
Since its inception, Give Day has experienced steady growth, with fundraising targets rising from $20,000 in the event’s early years to last year’s record-breaking $102,352.99 from 296 donors. The funds raised go toward scholarships and student-focused initiatives that directly impact DSU students.

Kierra Mathern, DSU HF Alumni Relations and Event Coordinator, recalled her experience as a Give Day Student Ambassador in 2021, when the Foundation surpassed its $20,000 target, collecting $59,760.
“One of our priorities is to bring in new donors,” Mathern said. “We want everyone to know their gift makes an impact – no matter the size, because it truly does.”
This year, Mathern and the DSU HF team will collaborate with student volunteers and Foundation board members to achieve the ambitious $100,000 goal. “It’s a big challenge, but the supporters of Dickinson State University have never failed to step up,” Mathern added.
The Foundation has organized several unique giving challenges to encourage donations:

“Give Day is a powerful reminder of the support and dedication of our Blue Hawk family. Each contribution, no matter the size, helps to support the dreams and aspirations of our students,” said Ty Orton, Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation and Acting President of DSU.
Scheduled events will mark the occasion at the DSU HF house, located at 230 8th Ave W, Dickinson. Starting with a breakfast drive from 6 to 9 a.m., visitors can pick up donuts donated by Baker Boy and a free commemorative mug with a hot beverage. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a lunch drive will offer free pizza donated by Papa John’s. Throughout the day, contributions can be made in person, by phone at (701) 483-2486, or online at dsuheritagefoundation.org/dsugiveday.
