The Education Foundation of Alachua County has added a new scholarship, centered around the impact of music, to its Senior Scholarship program.
The new Rose Morgan and Tina Pinkoson Scholarship, designed to support high school seniors pursuing music education, will annually award two $5,000 scholarships to seniors who meet the following criteria:
Applicants must also submit a 500-word essay answering the question, “How has music impacted your life?” This essay is meant to provide students an opportunity to reflect on the transformative role music has played in their personal growth and development.

Covenant Church sponsored the scholarship in honor of Rose Morgan, who has served for 20 years, and Tina Pinkoson, who has served for 30 years, in the church’s music programs.
“One scholarship application opens the door to more than 80 scholarship opportunities. These scholarships are sponsored by local businesses, civic organizations and individuals honoring those who want to leave a legacy of supporting students’ goal of receiving a college education,” said Tia Brock-Paul, executive director of the Education Foundation, in a press release. “This is how our Education Foundation got its start in 1986, and we are grateful for our partners who help us make college and career a reality for so many students.”
Brock-Paul said 100% of the class of 2024 seniors who received a senior scholarship and completed the survey said the scholarship would ease the financial burden of paying for college, and 86% said the process motivated them to work harder in their last semester of high school, and helped them choose where to attend college.
The Rose Morgan and Tina Pinkoson Music Scholarships are two of 10 new scholarships being offered to the class of 2025.
Applications for all 81 scholarships in the Education Foundation’s Senior Scholarship program are open until Feb. 17. Visit the Education Foundation’s website at edfoundationac.awardspring.com for a complete list of scholarships, details on eligibility requirements, and to apply.
