CANTON – The nonprofit Canton Student Loan Foundation is offering student loans to Stark County graduates.
The loans can be applied to any undergraduate course of study, including four-year college degrees, two-year associate degrees and degrees or certifications from technology and trade schools.
There are no fees or interest, and payments are deferred while recipients are in school.
To be eligible for a loan, students must have graduated from a Stark County high school, have, and maintain, a 2.0 grade-point average, and be pursuing a post high school education/training. Graduate school loans are also available.

MASSILLON – Massillon Rotary Foundation is accepting applications until April 30 for nursing scholarships for 2025. The amount of the scholarship has yet to be determined.
Eligible applicants must live or work in Massillon or western Stark County and be accepted or enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Scholarships are eligible to be renewed annually.

CANTON – Malone University has been awarded $773,500 from the Ohio Department of Higher Education to support students with an interest in careers in STEM.
Choose Ohio First is an important part of Ohio’s strategy to develop science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) talent around the state, with the Fiscal Year 2025 funding round committing $32.5 million in scholarships from Academic Year 2026 through AY30. This is in addition to the $200 million previously allocated for scholarships from AY21 through AY29.
To be eligible for Choose Ohio First funding, Ohio residents must be seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree and must be new to the STEM program at the institution. They must enroll in one of the institution’s eligible programs of study and meet admissions criteria.
Malone students will be eligible to receive up to $8,000 in additional scholarship funding. Undergraduate programs that are eligible for support include biochemistry, biology, environmental studies, environmental science, mathematics, nursing, and zoo and wildlife biology. Graduate programs that are eligible for support include clinical mental health counseling and the master of science in nursing. Priority is given to those who indicate interest by Feb. 1.
The BBB Charitable & Educational Fund, Inc. is accepting submissions through March 7 for its scholarship essay contest for area high school seniors.
The BBB Life Lessons Essay Contest is a theme-based essay contest that challenges students to reflect on living a life of integrity and ethics. The essays are submitted online and reviewed by a panel of judges. The top six essays will be awarded scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500.
The scholarship is open to area high school seniors attending schools in the BBB’s 64-county service area, which includes 12 counties in Ohio and 52 counties in West Virginia. There is no GPA requirement to apply, and scholarship funds are used toward attending any career, technical, college, university, or trade school after high school graduation.
The theme for the 2025 essay contest is “AI’s impact on core values.” The BBB’s three essential core values are ethics, integrity, and trust. Students should describe how artificial intelligence (AI) can impact these core values. What responsibilities do you have as a student related to AI? Students should share a positive or negative personal experience describing when AI has impacted these core values.
