Federated awarded two local students, Samantha Henning and Harriet Lohse, the 18th annual $1,000 Federated/Basin Scholarships. Henning, a senior at Jackson County Central High School, plans to study precision agriculture at South Dakota State University. Lohse, a senior at Windom Area High School, will attend Creighton University to major in business marketing. The scholarships, funded by Basin Electric Power Cooperative and L&O Power Cooperative, have supported 38 students with $38,000 since 2008. Federated received 16 applications, which were evaluated by retired educators.
