CANANDAIGUA — The Thompson Health Guild awarded scholarships to five college-bound seniors at its annual dinner June 6.
Each $2,000 scholarship went to a recipient majoring in a health-related field who must successfully complete their first college semester with the intent to continue in healthcare.
The recipients were as follows:
Grace Davis of Canandaigua Academy. She received the Gail D. O’Brien Memorial Scholarship. Davis will attend Rochester Institute of Technology, pursuing a five-year bachelor’s/master’s degree in the Physician Assistant program.
Johnathan Finewood of Midlakes High School. He received the Phyllis Ehmann Memorial Scholarship. Finewood has been accepted to SUNY Cortland, where he will study biology.
Jude Rischpater of Naples High School. He is the recipient of the Theresa Trembly Memorial Scholarship. In the fall Rischpater will be majoring in neuroscience at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
Sean Spezzano of Livonia High School. He is the recipient of the Russell and Deborah L. Kimble Memorial Scholarship. Spezzano will be attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, majoring in biochemistry.
Hailey Trank of Penn Yan Academy. She is the recipient of the Gerry North Memorial Scholarship. Trank will attend Nazareth University in Pittsford, where she will major in nursing.
The Thompson Health Guild is the auxiliary of UR Medicine Thompson Health, fundraising for the nonprofit organization to support capital campaigns; purchase medical equipment; and offer programs for hospital patients, nursing home residents, staff members and community members. Presenting the scholarships is one of the Guild’s annual traditions.
Also during its annual meeting, which was held at Thompson’s independent living community of Ferris Hills at West Lake, the Guild presented the F.F. Thompson Foundation with $40,000 to support the health system.
