Applications for 75 scholarships are now available online for students in Leelanau County or with Leelanau lineage through the Ed and Irene Fleis Education Foundation.
Students may apply for one of the $1,200 scholarships now through April 30. Winners will be notified by mail or email.
For the third straight year, $90,000 will be awarded later this year, Ted Fleis, president of the Fleis Education Foundation Board of Directors announced.
The Education Foundation is a 501(c) charity which provides financial assistance to students to help them achieve their higher education goals. It has been offering college and trade school scholarships since 2006. Since 2006, $757,200 in scholarships have been distributed by the Endowment Foundation. Scholarship funds are raised annually through donations, a golf outing, and an online auction. The golf outing is planned for Saturday, Aug. 2. Applications must be post marked or e-mailed by April 30.
