Each year, the Simi Valley Education Foundation grants scholarships to deserving students so that they can attend college, technical or vocational schools.
Students are chosen from each of the five local high schools (Apollo, Monte Vista, Royal, Santa Susana and Simi.)
“This year we are happy to announce that once again the Walt Fuller Foundation donated $10,000 towards our scholarship program,” the education foundation said in a statement.
Jenny Fuller, wife of the late Walt Fuller, is a SVEF board member.
In addition, the Simi Valley Educational Foundation awards three scholarships ($1,000 per year) to students enrolling in a local community college.
This endowment program was established to honor the wishes of the original donor to provide community college scholarships for students who cannot afford to fund their own education.
These two-year scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a strong desire to succeed by obtaining a college education. The scholarships are intended to provide an opportunity or create a turning point in a young person’s life that inspires them to become an asset to the community.
The Simi Valley Education Foundation said it is committed to supporting the continuing education and success of local students. By providing financial support, the foundation works to ensure that they can pursue their goals and dreams.
