ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) – Holy Name Catholic School is introducing prospective families to its school and mission during Catholic Schools Week.
“We want to try to create some good habits,” Principal Nathan Vande Hey said. “That’s what we’re really trying to do here at school, trying to help our parents really fulfill their role as the primary educator of their child.”
On Tuesday night, Holy Name Catholic School held the first of two open houses. Families toured the elementary school and learned about financial aid.
The school system offers two welcome scholarships. New Pre-K through eighth grade students are eligible for $1,000 scholarships. The scholarships for new high school students are $2,000.
“We’re coming from the Catholic tradition,” Vande Hey said. “We’re going to be doing those things and we’re proud of those things, but we are open to everybody. What a beautiful thing that we can walk and journey with a family all the way through from their three-year-old all the way up to their 18-year-old.”
The second open house is Thursday at the high school from 6-7:30 p.m. at 2203 7th Avenue South.
