Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation announced in a press release March 11 it will offer three scholarships for individuals currently working in healthcare or planning to pursue a career in healthcare, with applications due in June.
Applications are also being accepted for the $2,500 Annie Little Memorial Scholarship, available to a Buena Vista High School graduate who has attended one or more years in an accredited post-high-school institution. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a course or courses leading to a degree or diploma in the healthcare field. Previous applicants meeting eligibility requirements may apply each year.
Applications must be emailed or postmarked by June 6.
Two $2,500 scholarships are available for current college students planning to pursue a career in healthcare.
Scholarships are available to any college student who lives or has lived within the Salida Hospital District, which encompasses all of Chaffee, Western Fremont and northern Saguache counties.
Applicants must currently be attending college and continuing in fall 2025, have a minimum college grade point average of 3.2 and already have earned at least 24 college-credit hours. Applicants may not be related to an HRRMC Foundation board member.
An emergency medical technician, certified nursing assistant, certified medical assistant to a registered nurse with a bachelor of science in nursing scholarship is being offered to certified EMTs and paramedics, CNAs and CMAs who live within or are from the HRRMC service area.
The HRRMC service area encompasses all of Chaffee County, Western Fremont County, Saguache, Custer and South Park counties.
Applicants must be attending college in the fall, and applications must be emailed or postmarked by June 27.
