Students now have a unique opportunity to pursue their higher education goals, thanks to the Illinois Sheriff's Association.
The organization will award over $58,000 in scholarships statewide to assist with tuition, books, and fees, according to the press release.
The scholarships are open to all Illinois residents without restrictions based on race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin.
Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana will award a $500 scholarship locally, with similar opportunities available across other counties.
Applications are now available at local sheriff’s offices and online at the Illinois Sheriff’s Association website. To apply, students must complete the application form, answer an essay question, and provide all required documentation.
According to the press release, submissions must be returned to the sheriff’s office in the applicant’s permanent county of residence by March 14, 2025.
Mailed applications must be postmarked by the same date to qualify.
