CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — One Ingleside High School student is raising his horns as he is one major step closer to attending the University of Texas!
Monday Cesar Rodriguez was awarded a prestigious impact scholarship award for $48-thousand dollars.
The check presented to him by representatives from UT.
3NEWS is told Rodriguez is one of only two in the entire Coastal Bend to earn this scholarship.
From coaching to tutoring volunteering his peers it’s no doubt he has checked all the boxes for demonstrating impact and leadership in his community.
“I like being a leader teaching them what to do hopefully they can grow up and remember me and learn discipline and other life skills.”
Rodriguez also shared he was not aware of being picked for the scholarship until Monday and he was nothing short of surprised.
“I had no idea I was getting it or anything until they called me out my whole family was here that was my first reaction I was super happy, excited and super grateful for everything,” he said.
Rodriguez is ranked top three in his senior class and plans to study finance and entrepreneurship his goal is to one day own his own business.
