Graduating high school seniors in the KCII listening area have just over a month left to apply for the annual business and broadcasting scholarships.
KCII awards a $750 scholarship each to two high school graduating seniors who plan to pursue a business or broadcasting degree at a two-year community college or four-year university. General Manager Joe Nichols says he looks at a variety of credentials when evaluating applications, “More than just, what’s your academic class rank? Or, what’s your ACT or SAT score? Or your GPA? All of those are important things, but to me, they’re not necessarily, the most important thing. What I’m looking for, first off, are you interested in being in the broadcasting or business world? I like people that are involved with their communities, they like to find ways to give back, volunteer, or they are part of all of these different groups and organizations. Those types of things are the types of attributes we’re looking for in our applicants as well.”
Students in the KCII surrounding area can find an application at their guidance counselor’s office, or by finding the application at KCIIradio.com through the link with this story. Forms are due May 9th.
