NEW HOPE, PA — Phillips’ Mill, in conjunction with its Youth Art Exhibition, will hold an information session for high school students and their parents on finding and securing art scholarships on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Mill.
The program is free, but registration is required at phillipsmill.org.

The Jim Hamilton Memorial ShadFest Scholarship program in Lambertville presents two $10,000 scholarships each year to students from the South Hunterdon Regional High School or New Hope-Solebury High School sending districts (public or private) who are pursuing degrees in the fine arts, performing arts, writing, and culinary arts.
Over the past 40 years, they’ve awarded more than three-quarter of a million dollars to students who’ve gone on to careers in the arts including a Broadway makeup artist, an award-winning filmmaker, a fashion designer, a museum curator, and a Food Network producer, as well as full-time fine artists, ceramicists, musicians, and art and music teachers.
On Feb. 2, Phillips’ Mill will host Morgan Grabarz, a member of the ShadFest Scholarship review committee, who will discuss the details and requirements of this and other scholarship opportunities and offer advice on how to make the best application.
Morgan, a former Youth Art Exhibition participant and New Hope-Solebury High School alum, won the ShadFest Scholarship twice, in 2018 and 2020, and pursued her dream earning a degree in fashion design from Fashion Institute of Technology and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School in fashion and luxury industries. Her women’s fashions have appeared in New York’s Fashion Week and she recently opened her own boutique – MORGAN GRABARZ – on North Union Street in Lambertville.
The ShadFest Scholarship application deadline is March 24. Other scholarships available to the broader community have deadlines this spring. This is a perfect time to come to the Mill and learn more about the process. This hour-and-a-half-long program will allow plenty of Q &A time following the presentation. Handouts about the ShadFest and select other scholarships and websites for research will be provided.
Attendees are invited to enjoy the 12th Annual Youth Art Exhibition before or after the program.
The show will be on display from January 26 to February 16, weekends from noon 4 p.m. The exhibition showcases the works of high school students from 24 area schools and includes paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography and digital artwork.
Phillips’ Mill Community Association has been serving this area’s arts community, young and old, since its founding at the historic mill by William Lathrop and his Pennsylvania Impressionist friends in 1929.
